Materials & Alloys
At Gold Makers, we carefully select precious metals and materials used in our jewelry to create pieces that balance beauty, durability, and craftsmanship.
Gold
Gold is one of the most widely used precious metals in fine jewelry. Its purity is measured in karats, with higher karat values representing a greater proportion of pure gold.
Common gold alloys include:
- 24K Gold — Approximately 99.9% pure gold.
- 18K Gold — 75% gold combined with other metals for added strength and durability.
- 14K Gold — 58.5% gold combined with other metals to create a durable jewelry alloy.
The color of gold can vary depending on the metals combined with it. This allows jewelry to be created in different finishes and colors while maintaining the characteristics of gold.
Yellow Gold
Yellow gold retains the natural warm appearance associated with gold. It is typically alloyed with metals such as silver and copper to provide additional strength.
White Gold
White gold is created by combining gold with other metals to produce a lighter appearance. Depending on the piece, white gold may receive a rhodium finish to enhance its bright, polished appearance.
Rose Gold
Rose gold contains a higher proportion of copper in its alloy, giving the metal its distinctive warm pink or rose tone.
Sterling Silver
Sterling silver is an alloy containing 92.5% pure silver, with the remaining portion consisting primarily of other metals that improve strength and durability.
Gemstones
Gemstones used in jewelry are selected according to the requirements of each design. Their natural characteristics may include variations in color, clarity, inclusions, and appearance. These natural differences can make each gemstone unique.
Metal Characteristics
Because precious metals are naturally soft in their pure form, they are combined with other metals to create alloys that are more suitable for everyday jewelry. The specific alloy used depends on the design, desired appearance, durability requirements, and manufacturing process.
Gold Makers carefully considers the materials used.
